Ducks home streak ends; 6 Viking wrestlers seeded in top four at Far West District

College Basketball:

Number 19 Oregon went scoreless in the final 4 ½ minutes and Colorado came back just enough to hand the Ducks their third straight loss… 48 – 47… last night at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene.  Andre Roberson scored the go-ahead basket with 26-seconds remaining to cap the Buffaloes 8-nothing run.  Oregon will host Utah tomorrow at five with the pregame show on KCST at 4:30… Oregon State meanwhile will host Colorado at six Sunday… the pregame on KCFM is set for 5:30.

Prep Hoops

On the Court last night, the Mapleton sailors fell to Siletz Valley 54- 51 to wrap up the boys Mountain West League regular season.  The boys wind up in sixth place and will travel to Lowell Tuesday for a league playoff game.  The winner of that contest will then travel to Siletz Thursday for a shot at making it to the league tournament in Harrisburg on the 16th.

The girls ended up in 4th place after downing Siletz Valley 43 – 29 last night.  They’ll have a bye in the first round of the Mountain West Girls’ playoffs… they’ll host a game next Thursday.

On the court tonight… Far West League basketball.  The Siuslaw Vikings are in Brookings where they’ll take on the Bruins.  The girls tip off at six, the boys immediately following.  Airtime on Coast Radio Sports is at 5:45.

Six Vikings in top four seeds

The Far West District Wrestling meet gets underway tomorrow morning at North Bend High School.  Siuslaw will have 14 wrestlers in action… six of those have been seeded in the top four of their weight class.  The Vikings boast two number one seeds… Hayden Miles and Ryan Connor at 152 and 285 respectively.  Luke Carroll is ranked second at 145; Travis Dahlberg is seeded fourth at that weight class.  Isaiah Burkhalter is third at 113 pounds; Turner Wykoff is also third, at 182.  The top four finishers in each weight class will advance to the regional meet with the Skyline League next weekend.
