PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Multnomah County medical examiner’s office says the man shot by police last night in Portland has died. The Oregonian reports the office has not released the man’s name. Police said two officers encountered an armed man in a parking garage at NE Seventh Ave. and Lloyd Blvd. A news release says shots were fired and the man was hit. Police may release more information today.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Police say a 14-year-old girl who went missing Saturday from a Medford skate park was found OK last night at a Central Point residence. Lt. Mike Budreau told the Mail Tribune the girl apparently ran away. Police arrested a 19-year-old man accused of helping her hide and giving her marijuana. Police, the FBI and search and rescue teams had been looking for the girl.

FOREST GROVE, Ore. (AP) – Police in the town of Forest Grove say an explosion last night damaged a home and sent four people to a hospital. Police tell The Oregonian that a man suffered serious burns. A woman and two children were taken to a hospital for evaluation. The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. The explosion’s cause was under investigation.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Sixteen Democratic senators are calling on the Department of Veterans Affairs to continue granting waivers so same-sex spouses of veterans can be buried in national cemeteries. The lawmakers said in a letter to VA Secretary Eric Shinseki they wanted to commend him for a recent decision granting a waiver to former Lt. Col Linda Campbell so that her deceased spouse, Nancy Lynchild, could be laid to rest in Willamette National Cemetery near Portland. The waiver was the first of its kind.
