Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) – Dayan Viciedo hit a solo home run with one out in the 10th inning yesterday, lifting the Chicago White Sox over the Seattle Mariners 4-3. Viciedo hit the first game-ending homer of his career, connecting against Kameron Loe (1-1). Adam Dunn and Alex Rios homered earlier for Chicago. The White Sox improved to 26-5 against Seattle since 2010.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Chris Kaman scored a season-high 26 points and the Dallas Mavericks boosted their faint playoff hopes with a 96-91 victory over the slumping Portland Trail Blazers last night. The Mavs led by as many as 26 points, but the Blazers closed the gap in the fourth quarter – even after sitting most of their starters. Will Barton came off the bench with 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Blazers, who have lost eight straight for their longest losing streak since the 2005-06 season.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) – Deep snow is making for ideal conditions for the 28th annual Tesoro Arctic Man Classic. The race in the Hoodoo Mountains off the Richardson Highway combines downhill racing or snowboarding with a snowmobile. The race this year features a separate competition for adaptive-class skiers.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews was helped off the court with a right ankle injury against the Dallas Mavericks last night. Matthews appeared to roll his ankle with 8:27 left in the second quarter and he did not return. The extent of the injury was not immediately known. The three-year NBA veteran was averaging 15 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists going into the game.
