CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Corvallis police posted a picture of a suspect in a credit card theft case on Facebook, drawing 26,000 views and quickly leading to an arrest. The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports the photo came from an ATM surveillance camera where the suspect used the card to withdraw cash.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Sheriffs from Oregon timber counties are warning state lawmakers that public safety is in danger as federal timber subsides end. The sheriffs of Curry, Douglas, Josephine and Polk counties say their patrol forces are nearly nonexistent, inmates are routinely being let out of jail and prosecutors don’t have enough resources to prosecute misdemeanor cases.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police seized more than six pounds of cocaine and more than $11,000 in cash during a traffic stop late Tuesday night. Police also arrested a 37-year-old Vancouver, Wash., man who was driving the vehicle. Police say the man consented to a search of his vehicle and his home.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say a suspect couldn’t evade the long arm of the law using a car, a bicycle or his feet. It began early yesterday when troopers attempted to pull over a car in Medford. The driver sped away, crashed, got onto a mountain bike with flat tires, then tried to run before officers caught up with him and arrested him.
