HOUSTON (AP) – Marwin Gonzalez homered, Bud Norris rebounded from a tough start last time out and the Houston Astros snapped a three-game losing skid with a 3-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners last night. The game was tied at 1 when Gonzalez launched his homer about 10 rows into the stands in right field to start Houston’s third. It was Gonzalez’s third homer in 16 games.

HOUSTON (AP) – The Seattle Mariners have placed outfielder Franklin Gutierrez on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring. Gutierrez was injured on Monday night trying to make a diving catch in the fourth inning against the Astros. He has struggled with injuries in his career, and this is the fifth time he’s been on the disabled list since the beginning of the 2011 season.

CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) – Montana State’s Paige Crawford ran away with the Big Sky Conference individual women’s golf title yesterday, and Northern Arizona won its record seventh team championship. Portland State’s Britney Yada tied with Northern Arizona’s Kaitlen Parsons for second at the tourney held in Chandler, Ariz. Eastern Washington took sixth as a team at 47 over.
