Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A two-alarm fire early today damaged two homes in southeast Portland. Fire and Rescue says the fire went to two alarms when firefighters arriving around 3 a.m. found fire from a detached garage extending to two houses. Residents of both homes got out safely. Firefighters controlled the fire before it could spread farther. The cause is under investigation.

WINCHESTER BAY, Ore. (AP) – State Police say an Oregon man arrested after a crime spree in Northern California is the prime suspect in the murder of a woman whose body was found near Winchester Bay. Jeffrey Boyce of North Bend was arrested Monday night in Marin County on suspicion of carjacking and kidnapping a man at gunpoint. Boyce has yet to be charged in the Oregon homicide, but state police said he is the suspect and detectives are pursuing leads.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A psychiatrist has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to 30 days in jail for planting booby traps that injured Oregon mountain bikers on national forest trails outside Ashland. Dr. Jackson Dempsey apologized to the mountain bikers, his family and the medical community yesterday but he didn’t explain what led him to string nylon cords across the trails, and put nails and small trees in the path. Dempsey was a psychiatrist for Jackson County when he was arrested last July. He no longer has that job.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard has been unanimously chosen the NBA’s Rookie of the Year. Lillard, the sixth overall pick in last June’s draft out of Weber State, led all rookies with a 19-point scoring average. He also averaged 6.1 assists and 3.1 rebounds, playing in all 82 games this season. Lillard broke Stephen Curry’s rookie record for 3-pointers in a season, finishing with 185.
