PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Dalai Lama is scheduled to deliver a lecture at the University of Oregon today and another speech tomorrow in Portland. Last night at the University of Portland, the 77-year-old Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader spoke about the need to protect the environment.
CRATER LAKE, Ore. (AP) – Officials at Crater Lake National Park say a drier-than-usual winter and a warm spring mean the park should open late next week. The Klamath Falls Herald and News that snow plowing is going quickly, also saving money on fuel for the plows.
ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) – The vice president of Pendleton’s Blue Mountain Community College has been hired as the new president of Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas. Williams begins his new job in July, replacing a man who served as the college’s president for 25 years.
