PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Farm Bureau is suing the U.S. Department of Labor. The suit accuses the department of failing to respond to a public records request about actions last summer in Oregon. The Oregonian reports the bureau accuses the department of heavy handed tactics against blueberry farmers. Spokesman Jesse Lawder said the department had no comment on the lawsuit.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says a wolf found dead May 19 in northeastern Oregon died from canine parvovirus. The department says it’s the first case of the virus found in Oregon wolves. The highly contagious disease is common among dogs and wild canines – wolves, coyotes and foxes. The young female gray wolf was part of the Wenaha pack in Wallowa County.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A man who broke into his estranged girlfriend’s apartment in Aloha in January and slashed her throat has pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated murder. Under a plea agreement, 46-year-old Jose Ponce-Guitron faces more than 13 years in prison. The Oregonian reports the woman was saved by neighbors who heard her screams for help.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – A 44-year-old Bend man who pleaded no contest to 11 charges was sentenced in Deschutes County to more than six years in prison. KTVZ reports Anthony Pastran robbed a gas station and restaurant last year and shot his girlfriend in a leg. The girlfriend, Lisa Anne Schnittke, pleaded guilty to robbery charges and was given credit for four months already served in jail.
