PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The hit cable TV show “Portlandia” is coming back for two more seasons of comedy that lovingly skewers overzealous progressives, hipsters and folks who go to extremes to live sustainable lives. The show’s third season ended earlier this year and cable channel IFC says it has renewed the show for two more. The show has a nationwide following and is set in Portland, which has a reputation for being progressive, hip and green.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A Hillsboro man returned home one day in April to find his 14-year-old daughter in her room partially clothed with a teenage boy. The 50-year-old father told police he fired a handgun into the floor to scare the teens and he fired another round outside the house as the boy scrambled over a fence. No one was hit. Officers arrested Jamshid Ebrahimi. The Oregonian reports Ebrahimi has pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon and recklessly endangering. He was sentenced to three years on probation. He also must not own guns.

MADRAS, Ore. (AP) – Two central Oregon men have each been sentenced to 24 years in prison for the beating death of a Seattle fisherman whose body was found in May 2012 near Warm Springs. KTVZ-TV reports that a judge yesterday sentenced Steven Anderson Jr. and James Johnson in the killing of Dennis Jones. Anderson and Jones pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and kidnap charges.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The company planning to build a liquefied natural gas terminal near the mouth of the Columbia River has filed for a federal permit. Warrenton-based Oregon LNG says the application will outweigh Clatsop County opposition. Chief executive Peter Hansen told The Oregonian the county doesn’t have jurisdiction over an interstate pipeline feeder that would be required to connect to the terminal.
