College World Series

It’s taken just five years for coach John Cohen to revitalized Mississippi State’s baseball program and return the Bulldogs to championship contention.

Mississippi State, with a 48-and-18 overall record, will face number three national seed Oregon State Saturday in Omaha, Nebraska in the opening game of the College Baseball World Series.  The Beavers are 50-and-11 on the season.

One Bulldog could be trading his Mississippi State Maroon for Eugene Emerald later this summer.  Outfielder Hunter Renfroe was the 13th overall pick by the San Diego Padres last week in the major league baseball draft.  He leads the Bulldog offense with a .360 batting average, 15 homers and 61 RBI.

The rest of the MSU roster is filled with interchangeable heroes.  The most recent is senior left-hander Chad Girodo, who has struck out 24 batters in 13 innings during the post season.
