SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The 2013 Oregon Legislative session is expected to wrap up today. Democratic Senate President Peter Courtney says the state Senate will meet this morning to take up a handful of remaining bills. Last night, a joint budget committee advanced a bonding package to the Senate, despite complaints from several lawmakers that they hadn’t had enough time to review the bill.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Department of Environmental Quality plans hearings tomorrow in Hermiston and Portland on the proposed coal transfer terminal at Boardman. Ambre Energy wants to bring up to 9 million tons of coal a year by train from Montana and Wyoming. The coal would be stored in covered buildings and transferred to barges that would take it down the Columbia River to Clatskanie where it would be placed on ships to Asia.

REEDSPORT, Ore. (AP) – Reedsport police say Police Chief Mark Fandrey died unexpectedly Saturday after a sudden illness. KVAL reports Fandrey worked in law enforcement 21 years and took over as Reedsport’s chief in 2010.

GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) – Detectives have arrested two teenage boys in connection with a shooting at a Gresham park that killed one man and wounded another. Police tell The Oregonian that the shooting at Red Sunset Park Friday night killed 33-year-old Paulino Venancio-Lopez of Gresham. A 22-year-old man was wounded in a leg and treated at Mount Hood Medical Center.
