HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A father and son accused of sexually abusing girls at their Washington County home have pleaded not guilty. The sheriff’s office arrested 46-year-old Bryan Martin Payne and 72-year-old Lynn Coy Payne last Friday at their Metzger home. They are accused of abusing the same girls over the last two or three years. Deputies say Bryan Payne provided babysitting services at the home.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A driver whose vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian in April in a Portland crosswalk was issued two tickets but not charged. KATU reports Neftalia Cabrera-Escobar was cited for driving without a license and careless driving causing death. Investigators said he had not been drinking or speeding when he hit 62-year-old Brian Kenny. They said the sun might have affected the driver’s vision.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A Jackson County woman has been missing since the Fourth of July. The sheriff’s office believes that after celebrating the holiday in Ashland, 43-year-old Stephanie Anne Warner returned home to the community of Ruch, about five miles southwest of Medford. Her family reported she dropped out of sight without contacting them.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a 70-year-old man bashed over the head with a skateboard in downtown Portland is hospitalized with a non-life-threatening injury. The man was an employee of the Portland Outdoor Store and was assaulted yesterday afternoon as he hosed off the sidewalk outside the store. Co-worker Miguel Figueroa told The Oregonian Allen had asked some “street kids” to move so he could continue hosing the sidewalk. The co-worker says they refused and seconds later he heard a loud crash and found Allen on the ground.
