SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Prosecutors say a Salem woman who hit her police officer husband with a truck and pulled a gun on a woman she believed was involved with him has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Shirley Nunez pleaded no contest yesterday to charges that she entered the woman’s home, pointed a handgun at her and then drove home. There, Nunez struck her husband, off-duty Salem officer Kenneth Nunez, with a pickup truck. Prosecutors say Kenneth Nunez was hospitalized in critical condition for weeks.

BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) — Beaverton police say an 18-year-old man accused of grabbing a sergeant’s gun inside City Hall and firing a shot was high on mushrooms and hallucinating. No one was hit by the bullet in the Friday evening scuffle. The Oregonian reports that Jared Steven Leone was arraigned yesterday on six counts.

ALBANY, Ore. (AP) — Albany police say a man accused of driving around town firing marbles from a slingshot at cars and homes caused $6,000 worth of damage. Police say at least 18 homes or cars had windows broken late last week. The Albany Democrat-Herald reports that officers arrested a 37-year-old Albany man for investigation of felony criminal mischief. Police say alcohol is believed to have played a role.

FLORENCE, Ore. (AP) — Authorities are trying to determine the cause of a weekend fire that burned two recreational vehicles on the Oregon coast, killing a woman and two dogs. The Oregonian reports that state troopers say 52-year-old Patricia Eilene Howell was found dead Saturday, along with one dog, inside an RV on property near Florence. Another dog’s body was found in a second RV that burned nearby.
