SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Marion County sheriff’s office says a 35-year-old Salem woman is accused of raping a neighbor boy over an eight-month period beginning when he was 11 years old. The boy’s mother called police yesterday and reported her suspicions about her friend and neighbor. The woman was booked into jail on rape and sex abuse charges.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon state fire marshal’s office says lightning started the fire that caused $300,000 damage to a home in a gated community at Turner, on the southeast side of Salem. The fire burned the roof Saturday, and fire and water damage took out the second floor of the two-story home. No one was injured. Fire officials say lightning struck a tree near the house and jumped to a ground wire that burned into the attic.

ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) – The Douglas County sheriff’s office says someone has been calling people in the Myrtle Cree area and telling them to prepare to evacuate due to wildfires. The sheriff’s office says the calls are bogus and apparently some type of scam. The sheriff’s office says there is no evacuation order in that area.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The AAA auto club reports the average price of a gallon of gasoline in Oregon is $3.82. That’s down four cents in a week. It’s 27 cents higher than the national average. Some metro prices — Portland $3.80, Salem $3.81, Eugene-Springfield $3.80 and Medford-Ashland $3.79.
