ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Kyle Seager hit an RBI double with two outs in the ninth inning yesterday, lifting the Seattle Mariners over the Texas Rangers 4-3. The Mariners took two of three from AL West-leading Texas. They scored three runs in 7 1-3 innings against Rangers ace Yu Darvish in the series finale. Yoervis Medina got the win and Danny Farquhar earned his seventh save in 10 tries.

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) – Winning pitcher Harry Azadian had three hits and four RBIs and Westport, Conn., held off Sammamish, Wash., 9-7 yesterday to remain unbeaten in the Little League World Series. Westport will play the winner of a game between Chula Vista, Calif., and Newark, Del. Sammamish rallied after Azadian was pulled by scoring twice in the fourth and four times in the fifth. Westport relief pitcher Alex Reiner stopped a sixth-inning Sammamish rally with a strikeout to end the game.

SEATTLE (AP) – Jermaine Kearse caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Russell Wilson and returned a kickoff 107 yards for a score and the Seattle Seahawks used big plays to defeat the Denver Broncos 40-10 on Saturday night. Brandon Browner added a 106-yard fumble return for a touchdown, one of three turnovers forced by the Seahawks in the first half. Browner earlier forced a fumble and O’Brien Schofield also had a forced fumble and recovery. Next up for Seattle in the preseason: Green Bay.
