Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) – Brandon Moss hit a solo home run over the center-field fence with one out in the ninth inning, lifting the Oakland Athletics over the Seattle Mariners 2-1 last night. Jarrod Parker pitched his first career complete game, allowing eight hits. He struck out eight, did not walk a batter and threw 100 pitches. Kendrys Morales drove in a run for the Mariners.

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) – Jacob Dahlstrom drove in two runs on four singles and Sammamish, Wash., hung on for a 6-5 win over Urbandale, Iowa, in a Little League World Series elimination game last night. Dylan Matsuoka’s two-run single in the third inning extended Sammamish’s lead to 4-1. The Northwest champions added two more in the sixth to build a 6-2 lead before avoiding a late scare to stay in contention in the U.S. division loser’s bracket. Sammamish will face Nashville, Tenn., today.

BEREA, Ohio (AP) – The Browns have acquired offensive lineman John Moffitt in a trade from Seattle for defensive lineman Brian Sanford. Cleveland needed an experienced guard after losing Shawn Lauvao and Jason Pinkston to ankle injuries in the past week. Browns coach Rob Chudzinski said Moffitt is a “tough and versatile lineman who will be in the mix for us up front.”

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) – Auburn defensive end Dee Ford is expected to miss the season opener against Washington State because of a knee injury. Tigers defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson said last night that Ford will be out for the Aug. 31 game. Johnson says the team’s top pass rusher will be out for an extended time but he’s not sure how long.
