PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A woman accused of taking part in ecoterrorism firebombings pleaded guilty to arson and conspiracy charges yesterday in an Oregon federal court. Rebecca Rubin spent seven years fleeing from investigators until last year, when she surrendered to the FBI for her role with the Earth Liberation Front and the Animal Liberation Front. She faces five to seven years in prison.

KIT CARSON, Colo. (AP) – An Oregon man who lost his gay son to suicide and was walking across the country to raise awareness about bullying is dead after being hit by a truck in eastern Colorado. The Colorado State Patrol says 48-year-old Joseph Bell of La Grande, Ore., died Wednesday after being struck along a two-lane highway in a rural area 20 miles northwest of Kit Carson. Investigators believe the driver fell asleep. Bell’s 15-year-old son, Jadin, died in February after hanging himself in a schoolyard.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – Washington County authorities say a naked man was arrested after attacking a hunter south of U.S. 26 near Manning. Sheriff’s Sgt. Bob Ray says the hunter sustained head and shoulder injuries, but managed to hold his attacker at gunpoint until deputies arrived. Ray told The Oregonian the incident started yesterday morning when the hunter noticed the naked man trying to damage his all-terrain vehicle.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A disabled Eugene-area woman has sued for $2.9 million, alleging she suffered permanent and painful injuries when she fell while trying to board a specialized transit bus. The Register-Guard reports that Maxine Eccleston contends the Lane Transit District and Special Mobility Services were negligent. She says the driver of the RideSource bus did not lower the wheelchair lift or use the tilting mechanism to lower the bus and make it easier to board.
