GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) – A woman who was shot Saturday morning at her Gresham apartment has died. The Multnomah County medical examiner’s office tells The Oregonian an autopsy is scheduled today on Jessie Doyle Cavett. Police believe she was shot by Joshua Cavett who abducted their 2-year-old daughter, triggering an Amber alert, because he does not have legal custody of the child. The girl was found safe Saturday night and officers arrested the Cavett at a Gresham apartment.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A fire has destroyed a nut processing and shipping facility north of Salem. The Marion County Fire District says the blaze was reported early yesterday by multiple callers saying the structure was fully engulfed in flames. An estimated 400,000 pounds of nuts in a dryer were reported destroyed in the blaze.

ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) – The city of Roseburg is considering whether to regulate how thrift stores acquire and sell goods as a way to deter property crimes. Police say secondhand store owners could record whom they buy goods from and wait at least seven days before reselling the merchandise. The News-Review reports that a proposal was originally scheduled to go to the city council today but city officials wanted more time to review it.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Kalif Alhassan scored late in the first half and the Portland Timbers held on for a 1-0 victory over Cascadia Cup rival Seattle last night, denying the Sounders a chance to clinch a playoff berth. The Timbers moved into first place in the MLS Western Conference, pulling them closer to the postseason spot with two games left. It was the third straight loss for the Sounders.
