Jordan’s decision, first reported by the Willamette Week newspaper, is based on a legal opinion from the Oregon Department of Justice.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Two top Bonneville Power administrators suspended this summer amid an investigation into hiring practices have been offered other positions within the U.S. Department of Energy. The Oregonian reported yesterday that BPA Administrator Bill Drummond and Chief Operating Officer Anita Decker have been offered jobs in Washington, D.C. The BPA markets power from 31 federal dams.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Gov. John Kitzhaber has appointed judges to fill three new seats on the Oregon Court of Appeals. Kitzhaber announced the appointments yesterday of Joel DeVore, Erin Lagesen and Douglas Tookey. The Court of Appeals now has 10 members.

THE DALLES, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a plainclothes officer from The Dalles returned fire and killed a man wanted for questioning in a rape case.
