SALEM, Ore. (AP) – New state data show that Oregon Health Plan members are making fewer visits to the emergency room and more visits to primary care providers. Per-person spending growth fell by 1 percentage point. The numbers released yesterday suggest Oregon’s new coordinated care organizations may be having some success at improving preventive care while lowering costs for Oregon Health Plan members.

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – A man who claimed self-defense for shooting a man in a fight at a Clackamas grocery store has been found guilty of second-degree assault. Jerry Harryman faces a prison term of nearly six years when he is sentenced next week. The Oregonian reports prosecutors said the use of deadly force was unreasonable and unjustified for the threat Harryman faced.

CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. (AP) – Authorities in Southern Oregon say a 39-year-old man has been killed and his body found in a street. The State Police said Aaron Clouser of Cave Junction was found dead in a late Tuesday. Troopers say a 60-year-old man described as a person of interest in the case is in custody on felony warrants for probation violation and dangerous drugs.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – Authorities in Grants Pass say a 16-year-old boy has been arrested in the gunpoint carjacking of a 2002 BMW three weeks ago. Grants Pass police say the teen was arrested Tuesday night after the stolen vehicle crashed. Police believe he pulled a gun on a woman and her daughter on Oct. 16 and demanded the keys to their car. Neither the woman nor her daughter was hurt.
