PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Damian Lillard hit a layup with 6.5 seconds left to give the Portland Trail Blazers a 90-89 victory over the Phoenix Suns last night. The Suns led by as many nine points in the second half, but the Blazers went ahead 78-77 on Lillard’s hook shot with 6:45 left. The teams traded the lead as time ticked down until Eric Bledsoe’s layup put Phoenix up 87-83.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Joseph Young scored 28 of his career-high 36 points in the second half to help No. 18 Oregon rout Western Carolina 107-83 last night. Mike Moser added 26 points and Elgin Cook had 16 for the Ducks (2-0). Trey Sumler scored 29 in his season debut for the Catamounts (2-1).

Portland, Ore. (AP) – Tim Douglas scored 16 points and Portland State easily took care of Pacific Lutheran, a Division III school, 79-43 last night. The Vikings (1-1) never trailed, leading by as many as 37 points in the second half. The Knights were led by Bryce Miller with 14 points.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Roberto Nelson scored 24 points and tied a career high with seven assists as Oregon State beat Portland 79-73 last night. Angus Brandt added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Beavers (1-1). Ryan Nicholas had 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Pilots (1-1).
