LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. (AP) – Two Lake Oswego High School students injured in a head-on crash have been released from a hospital but a third girl remains hospitalized in critical condition. KATU-TV reported yesterday that friends say Katie Brauti has brain swelling and broken bones. The three girls were in a car Friday night that collided with another car.

OTIS, Ore. (AP) – The Lincoln County sheriff’s office says the county medical examiner has determined that a 69-year-old Otis, Ore., man whose body was found in the Salmon River died due to accidental drowning. The sheriff’s office says the wife of John Henry Davenport III called for help last Wednesday after she found him on an embankment but later lost sight of him.

FOREST GROVE, Ore. (AP) – Police in Forest Grove have identified a man in a wheelchair fatally struck by a car along a busy stretch of the Tualatin Valley Highway. Police say 55-year-old John David Hacker of Forest Grove died early yesterday. The Oregonian reports authorities say three other recent deaths occurred in similar fashion, where a person wearing dark clothing tried to cross outside a marked crossing.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Health insurance providers have until Friday to decide if they will be restoring any of the policies cancelled because they don’t measure up to the federal health care law. Oregon Insurance Commissioner Laura Cali announced yesterday that the Insurance Division will post an online list of insurers offering extensions. Companies that choose to offer extensions have until Nov. 29 to notify policy holders.
