PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – A man who hit a 74-year-old woman with a skateboard in Pendleton has pleaded guilty to assault and avoided prison. Justin Troy Doss has no prior serious felony convictions and reached a plea deal with Umatilla County prosecutors. The East Oregonian reports Doss could have been sentenced to nearly six years in prison. Instead, he was given five years of probation and ordered to apologize to Nancy Ashworth.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – Police believe a shooting in Hillsboro last night is gang-related. A 24-year-old man walking down a street argued with two other men, and one pulled a gun and shot him in the chest. The victim was hospitalized and is expected to recover. A police dog found the gun about a block away. The suspects remain at large. Detectives believe the men know each other.

GOVERNMENT CAMP, Ore. (AP) – The Clackamas County sheriff’s office says a 71-year-old hiker missing overnight near Oregon’s Mount Hood has been found in good condition. The sheriff’s office tweeted late last night that rescuers reported that Gary Tuor of Sandy was “medically fine” and walking out under his own power.

LINCOLN CITY, Ore. (AP) – Authorities have identified an Oregon State Police trooper who struck a Montana robbery suspect with a patrol car as officers tried to arrest the man and a woman on the Oregon coast. State police say Trooper Adam Kowing struck Dale Wallace with a patrol car when Wallace pointed a gun at officers last Friday in Lincoln City. Wallace is hospitalized in serious condition. Wallace’s companion, Sara Jo Johnson, fatally shot herself in a vehicle Friday night in Lincoln City after a standoff with law officers.
