SEATTLE (AP) – Mike Holmgren is now one of the intruders. After so many seasons of trying to insulate his teams from the noise on the outside and shield players from nosey media, he now finds himself on the other side. He may be a coach with Hall of Fame credentials, but he’s simply a fan when it comes to Sunday’s game between Seattle and San Francisco.
RENTON, Wash. (AP) – The Seattle Seahawks say their decision to limit ticket sales for the NFC championship game to certain states was due to concerns over ticket brokers. The Seahawks sold out a small allotment of available tickets – less than 3,000 – in less than 30 minutes Monday. The team has taken heat for excluding fans with billing addresses in California from purchasing tickets to Sunday’s game between the Seahawks and San Francisco.
SEATTLE (AP) – Workers yesterday were busy preparing CenturyLink Field for Sunday’s big game. At CenturyLink, Field Supervisor Sam Town was watching over his workers as they carefully used a template to paint an “NFL championship” logo on the field. Everything on the field, from yard-line numbers to hash marks to the giant “12”s representing the “12th Man” fans, will be repainted from last week’s victory over the New Orleans Saints.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Oregon has promoted linebackers coach Don Pellum to defensive coordinator, replacing Nick Aliotti, who retired after 17 seasons following the Ducks’ 30-7 win over Texas in the Alamo Bowl. Pellum will continue to coach Oregon’s inside and weak-side linebackers.
