SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Secretary of State’s office says it appears credit card information was not compromised when hackers broke into the agency’s network. The office collects money for annual business registration fees, election filing fees and material from the state archives. Campaign finance and business registration records remain offline as experts try to repair security weaknesses.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a Clackamas County employee was fatally shot on the job, and the gunman remains on the loose. A sheriff’s official says the victim was a weighmaster, a worker who ensures commercial truck drivers adhere to weight limits on roads. The suspected gunman has been identified as 41-year-old Dirck White of Edgefield, Wash.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The city of Portland and Clackamas County have agreed to pay $9.3 million to the family of a brain-damaged woman injured in a crash involving a meth-addled driver. Cayla Wilson was 19 and five months’ pregnant at the time of the April 15, 2010 crash. Her daughter was born three months early. Wilson’s family sued, contending the driver’s Clackamas County probation officer and a Portland police officer who encountered him before the crash should not have allowed him to roam free.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Forecasters say a rare and powerful snowstorm has hammered parts of the Pacific Northwest, dropping more than a foot of snow in parts of western Oregon and southwest Washington. Part two of the storm is expected to hit Oregon this afternoon, bringing another 6 to 12 inches of snow.
