PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland Public Schools and its teachers union are scheduled for another mediation session today. The impasse issues include class size, salary increase and early retirement incentives.

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. (AP) – Fire officials in the Portland suburb of Lake Oswego say residents of one home have been told to leave because of fears of a landslide above their house. The Oregonian reports residents of two other nearby homes were advised of the slide but only one house is directly beneath it. Water from a broken pipe saturated the hill.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon high school students are taking and passing Advanced Placement courses at a lower rate than their peers in other states. The College Board’s annual report shows 24 percent of recent Oregon graduates took at least one rigorous AP course during high school, well below the national average of 33 percent.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A 39-year-old Oregon teacher has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy who was a student at Sherwood High School, where she was a teacher. The Oregonian reports that Denise Keesee entered her plea yesterday in exchange for prosecutors recommending five years’ probation. Keesee was placed on leave in November 2012 and resigned last May.
