HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — A man recently called a Washington County 911 dispatcher with an unusual request. He asked, “Where can I buy some marijuana this morning?” KATU reports the dispatcher told him she had no idea where he could buy some pot, so he thanked her and the call ended. The time on May 1 when the man was looking for marijuana “this morning” was at 9:41 at night.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The state parole board says it will take as much time as needed to make a difficult decision about releasing a 40-year-old man who was convicted at age 15 of raping and killing a high school classmate in Beaverton. Conrad Engweiler described the killing of Erin Reynolds in 1990 and said he only set out to steal her car. He told the board yesterday his years in prison have taught him remorse, empathy and compassion.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Sellwood Bridge is closed until Friday afternoon, forcing thousands of commuters to find detours between Clackamas County and downtown Portland. KGW reports the bridge was closed last night for a contractor to install 27 pre-cast concrete girders on support columns for the east approach to the new Sellwood Bridge.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Five Portland students will dance at the White House in a talent show hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama. KOIN reports the girls from King Elementary were chosen in a national arts program. They leave on Friday and will perform Monday at the White House.
