PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Forecasters say clouds moving into Oregon tomorrow will bring the chance of showers by Sunday in western Oregon. The National Weather Service says the front will bring breezy conditions to eastern Oregon with a chance of isolated thunderstorms at times and the best chance of rain on Monday.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The AAA auto club says the average price of a gallon of gasoline in Oregon is $3.87. That’s the same as a week ago and 11 cents less than a year ago. Some metro prices from AAA’s survey: Portland $3.87, Salem $3.87, Eugene-Springfield $3.88, Medford-Ashland $3.90.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Portland Fire and Rescue spokesman says a chemical reaction caused a house fire and some of the injuries suffered by an occupant last night. Fire crews rescued a dog that was trapped in a bathroom. A fire investigator found chemistry lab equipment in a bedroom and that sulfuric acid was among the substances found. Damage was estimated at $20,000.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – School and public health officials say an elementary school near Medford will be closed for two days for cleaning after a teacher’s aide died of complications from Group A strep bacteria. The bacteria commonly cause strep throat. The Medford Mail Tribune reports the district says “public health is not at risk.”
