SEATTLE (AP) – Dallas Keuchel pitched a four-hitter for his second complete game in his last three starts, leading the Houston Astros to a 4-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners yesterday. Keuchel struck out six, walked none and allowed just an unearned run that scored on a throwing error in the second inning. George Springer and Marc Krauss hit two-run homers off Hisashi Iwakuma.
LONDON, Ontario (AP) – Henrik Samuelsson had two goals and three assists to help the Edmonton Oil Kings win the Memorial Cup, 6-3 over the Guelph Storm yesterday. Edgars Kulda added a goal and two assists, Cody Corbett, Tyler Robertson and Mitch Moroz also scored, and Tristan Jarry made 32 saves for the Western Hockey League champion Oil Kings.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Janie Takeda drove in three runs on two hits and the Oregon Ducks advanced to the women’s College World Series with a 6-2 victory over Minnesota yesterday in their NCAA Super Regional. The top-seeded Ducks are making their second trip to the College World Series in three seasons. The tournament gets underway on May 29 in Oklahoma City.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – Oregon State University is among 16 hosts for regionals in the NCAA Division I baseball tournament. The regional hosts are guaranteed spots in the 64-team NCAA tournament. The rest of the field will be announced today. The four-team, double-elimination regionals start Friday. Regional winners advance to the best-of-three super regionals the following week. The remaining eight teams will play in the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, beginning June 14.
