BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) – Police killed a woman in Beaverton when she pointed a rifle at officers. Police say the woman’s boyfriend called 911 yesterday afternoon said she was suicidal and had threatened him. A police negotiator tried to defuse the situation. Police say when she came out and pointed the rifle at officers they fired to defend themselves.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A Portland woman who was hit while jogging last Saturday in Medford has died. Police say 25-year-old Denise Anderson was taken to Rogue Regional Medical Center, and she died yesterday of head injuries. Police say she was in a crosswalk when she was hit by a driver making a left turn. The driver did not appear to be under the influence.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Multnomah County sheriff’s office is warning of public to be aware of a phone scam. Calls are being made by someone claiming to be with the sheriff’s office demanding payment for an outstanding arrest warrant. A spokesman says the caller tells person to buy a money card and call back with the card information. The sheriff’s office would not call asking for payment over the phone for fines or warrants.

SEATTLE (AP) – Normal weather is returning to the Northwest today as a Pacific storm blows in with gusty winds, rain and mountain snow. Forecasters expect 1 to 2 inches of rain on the coast of Washington and Oregon by tomorrow. In Oregon, 6 to 12 inches are possible in the central Oregon Cascades.
