PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon woman is suing her former high-tech employer for more than $400,000, contending she was fired while pregnant with her second child after being told she took too many restroom breaks. The Oregonian reports that a lawsuit says Dawn Steckmann and other employees had never been told they needed to clock out before using the restroom at Maxim Integrated Products in Beaverton.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A judge in Medford took pity on a woman who ran over her naked boyfriend outside an Ashland motel. Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Timothy Barnack told Beth Kathleen Smith and Richard Scott Conley to get on with their lives. The judge found the woman guilty yesterday of a misdemeanor. She received no prison time.

ENTERPRISE, Ore. (AP) – A team of scientists in northeastern Oregon is proposing a 10-year project to thin 100,000 acres of national forest that’s dense with underbrush and at risk for a big fire. The East Oregonian reports the effort is a result of a decision a year ago by U.S. Forest Service officials to accelerate the pace of restoration in forests that are overgrown after a century of fire suppression.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Alex Wintering scored a career-high 27 points to lead Portland to an 83-71 win over rival Portland State last night. The Pilots are off to their best start since going 6-0 in 1995-96 when they last made the NCAA Tournament. DeShaun Wiggins and Tieqbe Bamba had 13 each for PSU.
