PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say a Reedsport police officer shot and critically wounded the armed driver of a station wagon that caught fire on U.S. Highway 101 on the Oregon coast. State police say the wounded man was reported to be armed with a handgun. The unidentified man was taken to a Reedsport hospital. The officer has not been identified. Police believe the Subaru station wagon had been the subject of multiple driving complaints before it caught fire.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say the owner of a Portland stripper bar has been hospitalized in critical condition after he was shot during a robbery. The Oregonian reports police had little in the way of a description of the suspect, just that he was wearing dark clothing. The victim was identified as 54-year-old Craig Desmarais.

NESKOWIN, Ore. (AP) – A Coast Guard helicopter crew has rescued a man injured in a logging accident near the north Oregon coast community of Neskowin. The Astoria-based crew flew about 60 miles yesterday, hoisted the man aboard the chopper and took him to a hospital in Lincoln City. The Coast Guard spokesman says the man was reported in stable condition. He was not identified.

NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Coast Aquarium at Newport is caring for an ailing olive ridley sea turtle that washed ashore on the southwest Washington coast. KPTV reports the 41-pound turtle was found Monday on a beach at Oysterville, Washington. The Newport museum’s spokeswoman says its initial bloodwork looks good and it’s stronger than many rescued sea turtles they’ve received.
