PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregonians have just two more weeks to enroll in private health insurance this year. Feb. 15 is the deadline for buying new coverage or switching carriers or plans, and for qualifying for health insurance tax credits. Those who lack coverage may have to pay a penalty – 2 percent of a person’s income or $325 per adult, whichever is more. The deadline applies to people who buy coverage on HealthCare.Gov and directly from carriers.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Gov. John Kitzhaber plans to speak to reporters today about his fiancee’s work for a clean energy group. This marks Kitzhaber’s first public comments since EO Media Group reported this week that Cylvia Hayes was paid $118,000 by Clean Economy Development Center. Hayes’ earnings from the group had not been previously disclosed, but her work for other organizations seeking to influence state government has raised ethics questions for the Democratic governor.

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say thief at a Portland-area mall used a Jeep to smash into a cellphone store and then grabbed display gear that would be mostly useless outside the store. The Oregonian reports that a Jeep believed to have been used in the burglary was later found abandoned in a Portland backyard.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – A 19-year-old woman has been accused of recording an adult film in the main campus library at Oregon State University. An OSU spokesman says the university learned about the video Tuesday, but it apparently was recorded during the fall semester and posted on the Web.
