EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – The city of Eugene has granted Uber’s request for a delay in its appeal hearing. The Register-Guard reports the hearing had been set for today and a new date hasn’t been scheduled. Meanwhile, Uber and city officials continue to negotiate an agreement that would put the ride-sharing company in compliance with city regulations. The city began fining Uber after the company failed to obtain a transportation license that officials contend is required for operation.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Authorities have identified a husband and wife who were taken to a Portland hospital after a fall on Mount Hood. The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office says 43-year-old Michelle Carlson of Portland suffered two broken ankles and her husband – 39-year-old Brian Carlson – broke a leg. A third climber had minor injuries and was not hospitalized.

JUNCTION CITY, Ore. (AP) – Junction City Police Chief Mark Chase returns to duty today after more than five months on paid administrative leave. A City administrator says the move follows an investigation into formal complaints made by members of the department. She declined to provide specifics, saying the complaints were all personnel matters. Contact information for Chase outside of the police department was unavailable.

WEST LINN, Ore. (AP) – A Portland, Oregon-based nonprofit is taking cultural habits and beliefs into account while focusing on comfort and quality of life for patients with serious or terminal illnesses. Palliative care focuses on the well-being of patients with serious illnesses by improving doctor-patient communication and treating pain and side effects.
