PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) – Taijuan Walker extended his flawless spring to 18 scoreless innings, and Mike Zunino homered for the Seattle Mariners in a 3-2 victory last night over the Chicago Cubs. The 22-year-old Walker, looking to lock up a rotation spot, struck out six and walked one in six more shutout innings. He gave up two hits. Zunino launched his team-leading fourth home run and Robinson Cano had two hits for Seattle, including an RBI double.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – Damian Lillard had 23 points and 12 assists and the Portland Trail Blazers used a 10-point fourth-quarter comeback to beat the Utah Jazz 92-89 last night. Lillard helped Portland snap a five-game losing streak, scoring 13 fourth-quarter points. LaMarcus Aldridge added 19 points and nine rebounds.

CHICAGO (AP) – Earl Peterson and Devon Turk both scored 15 points and Loyola Chicago beat Seattle University 63-48 last night in the semifinals of the College Basketball Invitational. Loyola (22-13) hosts Louisiana-Monroe in Game 1 of the CBI’s best-of-3 championship series on Monday.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – After playing in front of thousands of supporters on its home court in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, Tennessee heads across the country to prepare for a much different reception. The second-seeded Lady Vols (29-5) play No. 11 seed Gonzaga (26-7) in a Spokane Region semifinal Saturday at the Spokane Arena, located less than 2 miles from Gonzaga’s campus.
