BEND, Ore. (AP) – A former Eugene police officer has been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to nearly two dozen charges that included child pornography counts and invading the privacy of fellow officers. The Register-Guard newspaper reports that the privacy invasion charges against Jeffrey Argo include crimes committed when he installed miniature video cameras in the Eugene police men’s restroom and filmed at least six officers urinating.

EAGLE POINT, Ore. (AP) – Deputies say a southern Oregon woman and her 6-year-old daughter are dead after their minivan collided head-on with a logging truck in the Eagle Point area. Three other children in the minivan were reported seriously injured. The Jackson County sheriff’s office identified those killed in yesterday’s crash as Amy Sue Foster and her daughter, Rebecca Showalter, both of Butte Falls.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say a state police detective who tried to stop an erratic driver watched the driver pull a U-turn and speed away, finally crashing into a southeast Portland storefront. KATU-TV reports no one was hurt when the car crashed into a game store late yesterday. The car driver ran off after the crash but the detective caught him and took him into custody with the help of arriving city police.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Firefighters rescued a woman from a burning home in southeast Portland after they heard her calling for help from the second floor. KGW-TV reports that Portland Fire and Rescue officials said the woman was in the early stages of being overcome by smoke inhalation when she was rescued yesterday morning. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
