Prep baseball and softball results

On the softball diamond… Pleasant Hill shortened the day Friday with a ten-run 4 ½ inning victory over the Siuslaw Vikings. Claire Waggoner and Chehalis Stinger each had one hit, accounting for Siuslaw’s only two hits. The Billies also only had two hits, but the Lady Vikings committed six errors.

Pleasant Hill came out on top over the Vikings on the Baseball diamond Friday, coming out on top 5-1. Trey Cornish took the loss on the mound and picked up the only hit of the day for the Vikings, a triple. He then scored Siuslaw’s only run on a passed ball.

On the track…

The Mapleton Sailor boys were third behind the Marist and South Eugene JV at the Aaron and Marie Jones Invitational at McKenzie High School. The Mapleton girls were fourth.

Jacob Pruett was a double winner for the Sailors, claiming victory in the Shot Put with a throw of 40-feet, six-inches; and the Javelin with a throw of 142-feet, 1-inch. Both marks were personal records and the best so far this season in the Mountain West League.

There were 22 teams at the Jim Robinson Invitational in Roseburg Saturday, including Siuslaw. The Vikings got top-5 finishes out of four competitors. Seth Campbell was fourth in the 15-hundredl Celie Mans fifth in the three-thousand; Mikaela Siegel was third in the 100-meter hurdles; and Carissa Oliver was third in the Discus.

On the college baseball diamond…

Oregon took two out of three over the weekend from Oregon State to win the Civil War Series at PK Park. The Ducks won 3-2 Friday, Oregon State evened the series with a 4-2 win Saturday; then Oregon claimed a 10-9 victory yesterday afternoon. Oregon State will take on Portland at Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer tomorrow. The Pilots will then head for home Wednesday where they’ll host Oregon.
