PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A former head of a national charity has been sentenced in Portland to more than three years in prison for his role in a scheme that stole $4 million from the nonprofit. The Oregonian reports that Brian Brown yesterday apologized to the federal judge who last year found him guilty for his role in the conspiracy to steal from Texas-based National Relief Charities.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – Washington County is facing a lawsuit from the inmate two jail workers admit they had sex with. The Oregonian reports the inmate filed notice that he intends to sue, claiming damages related to Brett Robinson and Jill Curry having sex with him repeatedly last year. Both former jail workers pleaded guilty to charges related to sexual misconduct. Curry was sentenced to four years in jail. Robinson is in jail until her June 2 sentencing.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A former youth pastor in a small town north of Salem has been sentenced to 33 years in prison after being convicted of repeatedly raping a girl younger than 16. The Statesman Journal in Salem reports that Peter Bass was sentenced yesterday after pleading guilty to five counts of first-degree rape and waiving his right to a jury trial.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A Springfield man will not face criminal homicide charges for running a red light and crashing his pickup into three young children, killing them. The Eugene Register-Guard reports that Lane County prosecutors said yesterday that they will not file charges against Larry LaThorpe for the February 22 collision that killed the children aged 8, 5 and 3 years. Their mother suffered serious injuries.
