Dotson and Siegel get prep honors this week

Siuslaw Track and Field Standout Joseph Dotson is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The senior athlete won the state championship in the 300 meter hurdles with a Siuslaw record time of 39.24 seconds. Dotson finished third in the 400 meters and ran a leg in the eighth place 4-by-400 relay.

Honorable mention… Mikaela Siegel. The junior from Siuslaw won the 4A state championship in the 100 meter hurdles, breaking her previous school record with a time of 15.5 seconds. She also finished seventh in the long jump and ran a leg in the 4th place 4-by-400 relay. Siegel also learned this week that due to a successful appeal at the Far West District meet the week before, she had won the league title in the Triple Jump.

NCAA Baseball Finals

Oregon State and Texas will meet at 11:30 Pacific Time Friday morning as the number two and number three seeds respectively in the Dallas Regional of the NCAA baseball playoffs. Dallas Baptist is the number one seed and host; they’ll play VCU.

The Oregon Ducks are the number three seed in the Springfield, Missouri regional. They’ll play number two seed Iowa at ten AM Pacific time Friday. Missouri State is the host of the regional, they face Canisius.
