SEATTLE (AP) – Welington Castillo homered twice off Seattle ace Felix Hernandez, including a two-run shot in the first inning, and the Arizona Diamondbacks won their fifth straight beating the Mariners 8-2 yesterday. Arizona completed its first sweep of Seattle and fifth this season thanks Castillo’s two long balls. Castillo hit a two-run homer off Hernandez (12-6) as part of Arizona’s four-run first inning, then added a solo shot leading off the fourth inning.

SEATTLE (AP) – Second baseman Robinson Cano is out of the Mariners lineup with an abdominal strain. Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon said that Cano first felt discomfort a few days ago while making a play in the field. He played on Tuesday, but was held out for the series finale against Arizona.

HOUSTON (AP) – Rookie Lance McCullers pitched seven solid innings and Preston Tucker and Jon Singleton both homered to help the Houston Astros to a 6-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels last night to regain first place in the American League West. Houston also took the first game of the series to move ahead of the Angels, who came into town leading the division.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Ivory Latta made four three-pointers and scored 20 points to lead the Washington Mystics to their fourth-straight victory with an 87-74 win over the Seattle Storm yesterday. Tayler Hill added 18 points for Washington (10-6) and All-Star Stefanie Dolson added 17 points and nine rebounds. The Mystics scored 34 first-quarter points and 53 first-half points, both season highs.
