SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Salem Police say a man has been struck and killed by an Amtrak train. They say the man was crossing the tracks on Sunnyview Road yesterday afternoon when he was hit by the northbound train. The street was closed for several hours during the investigation.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Shareholders of a Eugene company that manages services to about 95,000 Lane County Oregon Health Plan patients are suing the publisher of The Register-Guard to try to stop the state from releasing some records. The Register-Guard reports that Agate Resources Inc. shareholders say that disclosing their names and ownership interest would invade their personal privacy and threaten their professional reputations.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – The Bend City Council has voted to place a gas tax on the March 2016 ballot. The Bulletin reports that the council voted 4-3 Wednesday in favor of the tax. A yet-to-be-appointed committee will determine the specifics of the tax.

EDDYVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Kentucky State Police say an Oregon man has been charged with use of a weapon of mass destruction after troopers found a homemade bomb inside a vehicle during a traffic stop yesterday. Police said Interstate 24 was shut down for a time after troopers stopped the vehicle. They arrested 45-year-old Michael Jack Higgs of Grants Pass, and also charged him with firearms, drug and traffic offenses.
