Prep Volleyball season swings into action

The Siuslaw Vikings opened with a 3-nothing non-league volleyball win over Philomath last night in Florence. Claire Waggoner served five aces and Taylor Dotson added three more. Coach Angie Herring praised both, saying they both had excellent serving games with no errors. Non league play continues on the court tonight for the Lady Vikings. They’ll be in Elmira at 6:30.

Sailors open with loss on the road

The Mapleton Sailors lost the first game last night at McKenzie High School, then tied the match at two-all with a 25-18 win in game two; but the McKenzie Eagles swept the next two games for a 3-1 Mountain West League win. The Sailors will be at Triangle Lake tomorrow.
