Coast Radio Sports – Prep & Collegiate Football

Eugene Emeralds:

Hops ended the Eugene baseball season with a three game sweep over the Em’s in Hillsboro. Friday night it was a 2 run shutout for the Hops, who then took game two Saturday night, and game three Sunday 3 – 2 to clench the Northwest League Baseball South Division title.

Prep Football:

Prep football opened the 2015 season with non league action Friday night, the Siuslaw Vikings took down the Cubs in Newport with a dominating 29 to 6 victory. This coming Friday night the Vikings will host Pleasant Hill in Florence. Reedsport stopped Gaston in a convincing 47 / 6 final. Up next for the Braves, their home opener with Amity… the Mapleton Sailors will open on the road at South Wasco County.

Collegiate Football:

It might have been a slow start Friday evening for the Beavers, but Oregon State over-came Weber State in the season opener. Oregon State’s Seth Collins threw two TD passes in the second half to lead the Beavs to a 26 – 7 victory over the Wildcats.

Vernon Adams threw for two touchdowns but left his much-anticipated debut after a scary fourth-quarter hit, and No. 7 Oregon defeated his former team, Eastern Washington, 61-42 to open the season on Saturday night. Royce Freeman ran for a career-high 180 yards and three scores for the Ducks, who didn’t appear to have slipped much offensively without Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota.
