Oregon State Police say William Hernandez of Caldwell, Idaho, was killed in that collision while driving a commercial vehicle. High winds and dust limited visibility and contributed to the crashes.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A task force formed to improve school safety says Oregon should establish a tip line and develop a school floor plan database. The group also recommends funding a statewide threat assessment system to identify and help students who present a potential risk for violence and self-harm.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – A man fleeing from police crashed into another vehicle on U.S. 97 north of La Pine Tuesday night, killing himself and two people in the other car. KTVZ reports that police had broken off the chase just before the crash occurred. The suspect was identified as 47-year-old Brett Young of La Pine.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Marion County sheriff’s deputies rescued a 17-year-old girl from a cellphone tower in Salem, which they say she climbed in an apparent suicide attempt.
