Four Viking Wrestlers in top four at Springfield Invitational

Siuslaw’s Andrew Tupua defeated all three of his opponents in the 160 pound weight class at the Springfield Invitational. He capped the day with a tough 2-1 victory over the top see, Justin Kearney before being named the outstanding wrestler in the middle weight classes. Ricky Huff also won the championship at 113 pounds. At 138, Scott Simmons was the runner up; Matthew Morales won the consolation match at 106 pounds to finish third.

Prep Basketball

Boys basketball Friday night, the Elmira Falcons put on a 19-2 run in the third quarter, then held off Siuslaw in Florence. Preston Mitchell was five-for-seven from beyond the three-point line; finishing with 21 points and nine rebounds. Jared Brandt pulled down ten rebounds.

College Basketball

The Boise State Mustangs held off a furious late game rally by the Oregon Ducks Saturday evening to finish with a 74-72 victory. In Kansas City, Mo, the Beavers led by 11 at the half, but number two Kansas drew away in the second half for a 15 point victory… 82-67 over Oregon State.
