SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Officials say a liquid oxygen leak has forced some Salem residents to evacuate their homes. Salem firefighters responded to a report of a hazardous materials situation last night. KGW-TV reports the leak was contained at 8:40 p.m. but evacuations continued due to a high combustion risk. The evacuation of was expected to last about 12 hours.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A 76-year-old Kelso man has been arrested after arranging to meet with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl for sex. The Oregonian reports man set the meetup after communicating with a Cowlitz County detective. The man is a registered sex offender and was convicted of child molestation in 1998.

NORTH BEND, Ore. (AP) – A Coos County man is facing an attempted murder charge in connection with a fire that completely destroyed a camping trailer in North Bend. The Register-Guard reports that police say Todd Sanders is accused of igniting the trailer while two people a woman and a man were inside sleeping. After the two made it out of the trailer, police say the male victim and Sanders started fighting while the camper burned. No injuries were reported.

NORTH BEND, Ore. (AP) – A Coast Guard crew took a man by helicopter from a fishing vessel to receive medical care after a reported seizure. The Coast Guard says the man was picked up by helicopter around 11 a.m. yesterday about 9 miles west of Winchester Bay. He was reported in stable condition.
