Four Vikings place at initial Far West wrestling tournament

Siuslaw had three individual weight class champions at the first Far West Quad meet of the season last night in Florence. Ricky Huff went 5-0 at 113 pounds; Matthew Morales matched that record at 106; and Dylan Jennings claimed the 285 pound victory with three wins to boost the Vikings to 24 points and a fourth place team finish.

Andrew Tupua was 2-1 on the night to finish second at 160 pounds.

Pat Hill at 120 pounds, Murray Bingham at 132, and Justin Perkins at 220 rounded out the Varsity entries for Siuslaw.

Marshfield had 12 wrestlers, one for each weight class, and won the team championship with 51 points.  Douglas was second with 37, North Bend at 27 points was third and the Vikings were fourth.  Brookings Harbor and South Umpqua rounded out the field at 5th and 6th.

Siuslaw is back on the mat tomorrow for the Bend Invitational.

Prep Basketball

The Mapleton Sailors will host the Eddyville Eagles for Mountain West League basketball this evening. The girls game tips off at 5:30; the boys immediately following. Both games will air on KCST, the pregame show begins at 5:15.

Viking Basketball is on the court today and tomorrow for the Sky-West Crossover… All the boys teams in the Skyline and Far West Leagues are at Phoenix High School… the Vikings will take on Phoenix today and Klamath Union tomorrow… All the girls’ teams are at Douglas High School… the Lady Vikings face Klamath Union at midday… then they’ll take on the Phoenix Pirates tomorrow.

Pac-12 basketball…

Oregon State will host Cal tomorrow evening at 6:30… the pregame show on KCFM is at six. Oregon will take on Stanford Sunday night at Matthew Knight Arena. The pregame show on KCST is at 6:30… tipoff at seven.
