WASHINGTON (AP) – On the night Alex Ovechkin was honored for his 500th goal, fellow Russian forward Evgeny Kuznetsov had two goals and an assist and the Washington Capitals beat the Vancouver Canucks 4-1 yesterday for their fifth straight victory. Radim Vrbata scored for the Canucks, who were beginning a six-game Eastern Conference trip.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) – Ryan Anderson scored 21 points, Kaleb Tarczewski had 16 points and 13 rebounds, and No. 18 overpowered Washington for a 99-67 victory last night. Arizona had a 43-26 advantage on the glass against the Pac-12’s top rebounding team and shot 60 percent to extend its home winning streak to a nation-best 48 games.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) – Nick Emery hit a 3-pointer with 1:38 left for the lead and BYU hung on to beat No. 25 Gonzaga 69-68 last night. It was the only basket of the game for Emery. Kyle Collinsworth scored 20 points and Chase Fischer added 18 for BYU, which upset Gonzaga at home for the second straight season. Kyle Wiltjer scored 35 points for Gonzaga, which saw a seven-game winning streak snapped.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – Dillon Brooks had 23 points and eight rebounds while Casey Benson scored a career-high 15 points to power the Oregon Ducks past Utah 77-59 last night. The Ducks never trailed in notching their third straight conference win after dropping their league opener to Oregon State.
