Prosecutors say Hall took her to a motel and had sex with her during his five-day visit before heading back to the United Kingdom.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Washington County authorities say they have arrested a man accused of trying to break into a home as deputies followed him through a neighborhood near Portland. The Oregonian reports sheriff’s deputies say Elijah Halverson, who was thought to be armed, had run away from deputies and tried to break into a residence until he was confronted by the homeowner.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say they are investigating after finding a body on the bank of the Willamette River in Portland. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office says a person walking on a path nearby saw the body early last night near Swan Island and called authorities. No other details were available.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A proposal to eliminate coal-fired energy produced by Oregon’s biggest utilities and double the use of renewables has been approved by the state House and now heads to the Senate. The bill was negotiated between the state’s two largest utilities and environmentalists. Many lawmakers see it as the preferred alternative to a more aggressive ballot measure being proposed for November.
