LOS ANGELES (AP) — J.J. Redick hit a 21-foot jumper as time expired to lift the Los Angeles Clippers to a 96-94 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers last night. With 1.1 seconds left, Chris Paul inbounded the ball to Redick cutting off a screen, and he made the basket from just inside the arc. Damian Lillard scored 18 points and C.J. McCollum added 17 to lead the Trail Blazers, who lost for the eighth time in 12 games.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Dillon Brooks scored 22 points and Oregon advanced to the brink of its first Final Four in 77 years with an 82-68 victory over defending national champion Duke last night in the West Region semifinal of the NCAA Tournament. Elgin Cook had 16 points and nine rebounds for the top-seeded Ducks (31-6), who will meet Oklahoma tomorrow. The second-seeded Sooners routed Texas A&M 77-63.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Nelson Cruz busted out of a slump with a double and RBI single to help the hot-hitting Seattle Mariners to a 10-8 victory over the Colorado Rockies yesterday. Cruz, who entered 3 for 29, collected both hits against struggling Rockies starter Tyler Chatwood. Seth Smith had two doubles and drove in three and Daniel Robertson tripled in a run for the Mariners, who have scored 22 runs in two games.

TUKWILA, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Sounders have signed former U.S. national team forward Herculez Gomez, looking to jumpstart the club after losing the first three matches to start the MLS season. The 33-year-old had been training with Seattle and the Sounders decided to add another veteran to their roster.
